Atlantic’s State-of-the-Art workstations and technology enable us to provide comprehensive design services through the use of fully automated CAD workstations operating an extensive variety of engineering software packages. Atlantic's computerized design capabilities include coordinate geometry, subdivision/site layout, hydraulic and hydrological design, traffic analysis, road plans and profiles, grading plans and topographic mapping.
Through using multiple versions of AutoCAD Civil and Civil 3D, Atlantic has the capability to optimize program versions to efficiently complete project design. Project design requirements and complexities are analyzed up front to determine the best site-specific design process.
Geographic Information Systems are now a widely available technology with ever-growing accuracy. Through the use of GIS Software, Atlantic compiles available data such as LIDAR elevations data to minimize requirements for field work during site design.
Atlantic can prescreen project viability for potential permitting or development limitations. The ability to complete thorough desktop reviews of bylaws and GIS information prevents investing money into a potentially infeasible project, specifically with respect to renewable energy development. Wetlands are one of the most restrictive aspects of project development in Massachusetts. It is important to understand what limitations exist at your Site. Atlantic completes cursory wetlands reviews, pre-development site-walks and full delineations for both local and state level permitting.
An in-house survey team allows Atlantic to control scheduling for field components of any project to meet strict deadlines. Our detailed existing conditions survey and CAD layouts allow for a streamlined design process. We also complete ALTA surveys for projects with strict lending requirements or Deeds.
For projects mapped in a Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program (NHESP) area, we complete information request forms early on in a project to determine any limitations posed by endangered or rare species. If needed, our services include additional filings with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act Office and mitigation design during permitting.
Representative projects include The Ridge Club, Hickory Hills Country Club and Ballymeade Country Club. See more projects

Atlantic prepares and files the Special Permit and/or Site Plan Review applications with the Town, including technical reports, plans, calculations, abutter notification, O&M plans, decommissioning plans, and other supporting materials for the permit application. Additionally, Atlantic handles any state level permitting required for wetlands or endangered species.
Permitting requirments vary drastically by Town and project type. Throughout our 30 years of experience we have developed strategies to permit a wide variety of project types with complex local regulations.
Atlantic handles many state level approvals such as filings for Massachusetts Endangered Species Act (MESA), application for permit to access state highways as well as various filings for the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act Office (MEPA) associated with environmental impacts imposed by projects.
Permit level delineations for wetlands, vernal pools, streams and rivers
In-House surveying for use in residential and commercial applications
Designed in accordance with Town requirements and State DEP Stormwater Management standards
Site design is completed in accordance with town bylaws as well as any state level requirements.
Attendance at both pre-meetings with the Town as well as public hearings with the Planning Board, Conservation Commission or any applicable board
Atlantic manages project scheduling and coordination, specifically with projects requiring multiple engineers with various disciplines.
